Hi, my name is Kristin. My husband Dave and I live in New York's beautiful Hudson Valley with our three boys. Lucky for me, Dave has an incredible green thumb, enjoys outdoor projects, and is just all-around handy. To say that he grows the food and I cook the food would be easy, but not completely accurate. I help in the gardens, though he is the master planner and implementer. And, sometimes, I even share the kitchen.

I read cookbooks and food magazines like novels. I love to cook, bake, and experiment in the kitchen. A few years ago, after I made my first batch of caramel by following a recipe and finding it not quite what I was looking for, I decided to play around. It took a few tries to get it to match what I had imagined the perfect caramel to be, and when I did...WHOA. Caramel sauce became my signature gift and was often requested by friends and family. After gifting some to the wonderful farmer whose CSA I am a member of, he suggested I sell it at the farm. It had never occurred to me to sell my caramel before, but with the encouragement of my friends, family, and the wonderful folks at Blooming Hill Farm, Cara*Sel was born.
